WhoMadeWho are without a doubt one of the most promising new bands. These three guys from Copenhagen recorded two disco rock songs just for fun, sent them to German label GOMMA and unexpectedly caused a sensation in the music scene.

Following the release of their eponymous debut album in 2006 their song “Satisfaction” reached cult status in British Indie clubs. The radio single “Space For Rent” was even covered by THE QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE for their live concerts. Bands such as SOULWAX, ART BRUT, FRANZ FERDINAND, THE RAPTURE, DAFT PUNK and LCD SOUNDSYSTEM were cited as fans of the band and some of them hired the three Danes as support band for their tours. In consequence, a huge, ever-growing fanbase around the world evolved.

The band has played festivals such as the MONTREUX JAZZ FESTIVAL and the SONAR in Barcelona and also appeared on the after show party of the MTV MUSIC AWARDS in Lisbon and fashion shows in Milano.

Their sound, inspired by 70ies Disco, 60ies Garage Rock and 90ies House Music, has brought a new touch to the rock scene. They were celebrated as “Simply Brilliant!” by British music bible NME, whereas i-D Magazine did a huge feature on them and music press around the world proclaimed them as the shooting stars of the disco rock scene.

WhoMadeWho’s very own style mix comes to no surprise if one is aware of the diverse musical roots of the members: Jeppe Kjellberg , guitar player, used to live in NYC where he was established in the local Avantgarde Jazz scene – he even recorded an album with former Lounge Lizzard guitar player DAVIS TRONZO. Tomas Höffding on bass is deeply rooted in the scandinavian garage punk scene. Drummer Tomas Barfod is known as one of Scandinavia’s best electro DJ’s and has published acclaimed records on Get Physical, Kitsune and Gomma under his moniker TOMBOY.
