Over the last few years, Hypnotic Rage have become one of the most
original and influential names on the Bulgarian dance/electronic scene.
K ( Kiril Zahariev ) and J ( Nikolai Jelev ) met at a Depeche Mode gig
somewhere in Europe about a decade ago. Back then K was the beat creator
for the legendary Bulgarian rap band Avi MC, and J a music producer
working on TV and radio projects. And while influenced by the music at
the time, both felt that something new was needed for the next
Millennium. The aim was simple: To find their own sound and then push it
as far as it will go.
Their 2003 debut single "Feel the Vibes" rocketed straight into the top 5
in the Bulgarian Top 100, placed at No.4 in BG Top 10, reached No.2 in
MMTV's Top 20, and hit No.1 in Radio Fresh's Airplay Top 40.
This was followed by collaborations with Svetla Ivanova that produced
two hit singles, "Tova do men" and "Obicham te do tuk" peaking at No.1
in the Bulgarian Top 100.
At the end of 2006 Hypnotic Rage hit the heights again with their single
"Feeling Blue". The video was nominated at the 2007 MAD Video Music
Awards for Best Bulgarian Music Video.
They’ve since returned to their high end studio in the heart of Sofia to
record “Secret Sins”. The video of which would eventually become one of
the most expensive in Bulgarian history. Set to the background of Brian
De Palma’s Oscar nominated film “Black Dahlia”, it’s a highly creative
piece of work that will make the rest of the world sit up and notice
what is going on in Bulgaria at the moment!
